Anthropic has started localizing pricing for its AI assistant Claude in India, its largest market outside the United States. Indian users are now seeing subscription plans denominated in Indian rupees, a move that signals the company's growing focus on the country.
According to Yahoo Finance, Claude's website in India now lists plans in rupees. Claude Pro, when billed annually, costs ₹2,000 per month — which is about $21. In the United States, the same plan costs $17 per month.
Claude Max and Team Plans in India
For users who need more power, Claude Max starts at ₹11,999 per month in India, which is around $125. In the US, that plan costs $100 per month. Team plans, designed for businesses, start at ₹2,399 per seat per month in India — about $25 — compared to $20 per seat per month in the US.
This localization comes as India has become Anthropic's second-largest market globally. The company's co-founder Dario Amodei has previously highlighted India's importance to the company's growth strategy.
Why This Matters for Indian Users
By offering rupee-denominated plans, Anthropic is making it easier for Indian users to subscribe without dealing with currency conversion or international transaction fees.
