The buzz around a revamp of the BJP organisation intensified on Monday as party president Nitin Nabin's Punjab visit was cut short. Nabin is now rushing back to Delhi from Ludhiana this afternoon, according to a report by The Tribune.
What Was Originally Planned
According to the original schedule, Nabin was to return to Chandigarh from Ludhiana on Monday. He was then supposed to pay a courtesy visit to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. Later, Nabin was scheduled to have dinner at Punjab BJP chief Kewal Dhillon's Sector 9 house in Chandigarh with some eminent people of the state before returning to Delhi at night.
What Changed
But Nabin will not visit Chandigarh now. He will cut short his Punjab stay and head back to Delhi from Ludhiana on Monday afternoon instead.
Some organisational review meetings are said to be scheduled in Delhi later on Monday. This comes as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is back from his G7 engagements and is also free after the International Y..., as reported by The Tribune.
Our Take: What This Signals
The sudden change in schedule is a clear sign that something significant is brewing within the BJP. When a party president cuts short a state visit and rushes back to the capital, it usually means important organisational decisions are on the table. The fact that PM Modi is also available in Delhi after his international engagements adds weight to the speculation. In our view, this points to a major organisational revamp that could be announced soon. The timing suggests the party is looking to finalise its leadership structure and state-level appointments ahead of upcoming political challenges.
