The Congress Political Affairs Committee (PAC) is set to hold a crucial two-day meeting in Dharamshala on July 16-17. The meeting comes as the party looks to address key organisational issues and prepare for the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
The meeting will be attended by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, Himachal Congress president Vinay Kumar, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, senior leader Anand Sharma, Cabinet ministers, and other senior party functionaries.
The PAC is expected to discuss several important organisational issues. One of the main topics is filling the lone vacancy in the Council of Ministers. A possible Cabinet reshuffle could also be on the table.
The meeting will also focus on coordination between the party and the state government. Party leaders are expected to deliberate on how to strengthen the party's organisational structure at the grassroots level.
A major focus of the Dharamshala meeting will be to prepare a roadmap for the 2027 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. The PAC will discuss strategies to ensure the party is well-prepared for the upcoming electoral battle.
AICC in-charge Rajni Patil confirmed the meeting during her visit to Shimla. She was in the city to attend a party function.
This PAC meeting is a significant step for the Congress party in Himachal Pradesh. With the 2027 Assembly elections still a couple of years away, the party is clearly trying to get its house in order early. Addressing the cabinet vacancy and discussing a reshuffle shows the party is serious about governance and internal coordination.
In our view, the success of this meeting will depend on whether the party can move beyond internal discussions and present a clear, unified plan to the public. The roadmap for 2027 needs to be more than just a strategy document — it must address the real concerns of voters in the state.
