DGP Ajay Singhal holds meeting with police officers, issues necessary directions
Chandigarh, April 10: In view of the call for a protest by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha on April 11 in Haryana, the Haryana Police has made extensive arrangements to maintain law and order across the state. In this regard, a high-level meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Director General of Police Ajay Singhal with senior police officers.
Senior officers including Additional Directors General of Police/Inspectors General of Police/Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police participated in the meeting through video conferencing. ADGP CID Saurabh Singh, ADGP Law and Order Sanjay Kumar and several other senior officers were also present at the Police Headquarters.
* Emphasis on maintaining law and order during protests – DGP
While chairing the meeting, Ajay Singhal stated that the possibility of anti-social elements attempting to disrupt law and order during the proposed blockade by farmer organizations cannot be ruled out. He said that in the past as well, such elements have tried to disturb the situation during similar protests. Therefore, it is essential to formulate a robust and effective strategy in advance to control any untoward situation at an early stage and ensure complete maintenance of law and order.
* Directions to activate intelligence network, ensure proper briefing and strict law enforcement
Shri Singhal directed police officers to activate their intelligence network and make adequate arrangements at locations where protests have been announced. He emphasized that proper briefing of the deployed police force is essential. Every police personnel should be clearly aware of their duties—what, when, and how to act in any given situation.
He further stated that while everyone has the democratic right to protest peacefully, any attempt to disrupt law and order will not be tolerated.
* Focus on smooth traffic movement, seamless operations in mandis, and coordination with farmer leaders
He clearly instructed that traffic should not be disrupted during the protests. Superintendents of Police must ensure necessary arrangements, including preparation of traffic diversion plans, so that the general public does not face inconvenience.
He also directed that there should be no disruption at mandi gates and that movement of tractor-trolleys should remain smooth. Police officers were instructed to hold meetings with farmer leaders in their respective areas and appeal for peace and cooperation.
* Strict vigil on miscreants, special monitoring at highways and toll plazas – ADGP Sanjay Kumar
ADGP Law and Order Sanjay Kumar directed that adequate police force be deployed at protest sites and nearby areas to maintain complete control over law and order. He emphasized strict surveillance on anti-social elements to prevent any untoward incidents.
He also stressed that traffic management should remain smooth and that special focus must be given to sensitive locations such as highways and toll plazas. Highlighting the importance of proper briefing, he said that each personnel must be fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
He further instructed officers not to keep any doubts and to immediately seek guidance from senior officers if required. He assured that additional police force would be provided promptly to any district as per requirement. All districts were directed to ensure complete preparedness to avoid any lapses and to effectively handle any situation.
* Emphasis on dialogue, smooth arrangements in mandis during crop procurement – ADGP CID
ADGP CID Sourabh Singh stated that officers deployed at protest sites should engage in dialogue with farmers, as most issues can be resolved through communication. He highlighted that the next 5–6 days are crucial in terms of crop procurement and lifting.
He directed that proper arrangements be made to maintain law and order in mandis and surrounding areas. The primary objective, he said, is to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience in mandis.
* Appeal to maintain law and order
In conclusion, DGP Ajay Singhal appealed to farmers to maintain peace and law and order in the state and not to be misled by any provocation. He stated that any attempt to disturb law and order will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those creating disturbances.
Senior officers of Haryana Police will continuously monitor the situation at various levels to effectively deal with any untoward incident.
