Faridabad Electrocution Deaths: 2 Die in Rain

TL;DR — Quick Summary

Two men died from electrocution in Faridabad following heavy rain. One was a Blinkit delivery worker, the other a workshop employee. A school bus and SUV also got trapped in floodwaters at a railway underpass.

Two young men died of electrocution in Faridabad after heavy rain lashed the area. The deaths happened in separate incidents, and both victims came in contact with live electricity.

Blinkit Delivery Worker Dies at Sehatpur

The first victim was Ramkhelawan, a 26-year-old delivery worker for Blinkit. He died after coming in contact with current from an electricity pole around 5 pm. He was on his way to make a delivery when the incident happened.

Following his death, delivery workers gathered outside the Blinkit store at Sehatpur to protest. The protest shows how seriously the workers took the incident and the risks they face during such weather conditions.

Second Electrocution Death in Old Faridabad

In a separate incident, 22-year-old Ayaan was electrocuted in the Ahirwada area of Old Faridabad. He came in contact with a pedestal fan inside a workshop. The fan apparently carried live current, which proved fatal for the young man.

These two deaths highlight the dangers of electrocution during heavy rain. Water and electricity are a deadly combination, and these incidents show how quickly tragedy can strike.

Flooding Traps Vehicles at Railway Underpass

The heavy rain also caused flooding at the Old Faridabad railway underpass. A school bus and an SUV got trapped in the floodwaters at this location. This is the same spot where two bank employees drowned in 2024.

The underpass has a history of flooding during heavy rain. Vehicles getting stuck there is a recurring problem that puts lives at risk. The fact that a school bus was trapped raises serious concerns about safety measures at this location.

Rainfall Report Shows Heavy Downpour

According to an official rainfall report for the past 24 hours, Tigaon block recorded the highest rainfall in Faridabad district. The heavy downpour contributed to the dangerous conditions that led to these electrocution deaths and flooding.

The combination of heavy rain, poor electrical safety, and inadequate drainage created a deadly situation across the district.

Our Take: Electrocution Deaths Demand Urgent Action

These two deaths were preventable. When heavy rain hits, electricity poles and appliances become deadly hazards. The fact that a delivery worker died just doing his job, and a young man died from a simple pedestal fan, shows how exposed ordinary people are to these risks.

In our view, authorities need to act immediately. Electrical infrastructure must be inspected and made safe before and during monsoon season. The underpass that keeps flooding also needs a permanent solution — it has already claimed lives in 2024, and now vehicles are getting trapped there again.

Delivery workers and other essential staff cannot stop working because of rain. Companies and local authorities must ensure their safety. The protest by delivery workers outside the Blinkit store shows that workers themselves are demanding better protection.

These deaths are a warning. If safety measures are not improved, more lives will be lost in the next heavy rainfall. The time to act is now, not after another tragedy.
