The Himachal Pradesh government will appoint 3,400 teachers in CBSE-affiliated schools within a month. The move aims to fill all existing vacancies in these institutions across the state.
According to The Tribune, the appointments will cover both temporary and permanent positions in the schools.
How the 3,400 Teacher Appointments Are Split
The recruitment plan divides the 3,400 teachers into two main groups. Around 2,800 teachers will be appointed on a temporary basis. They will receive a fixed honorarium of Rs 30,000 per month for five years.
The remaining 600 teachers will be Junior Basic Teachers (JBTs). These teachers will be recruited for the primary sections of more than 130 CBSE-affiliated schools, as reported by The Tribune.
Progress Already Made in Teacher Recruitment
The Education Department has already taken steps to fill positions. Under the scheme, 800 teachers have been appointed so far. This includes 400 teachers for mathematics and 400 teachers for English.
Of these 800 appointed teachers, around 600 have already joined duty at their allotted schools. The remaining teachers are expected to join soon.
"There will be no vacancy in CBSE-affiliated schools after these teachers are appointed. Many schools will, in fact, have additional teachers," said a senior Education Department official, as quoted by The Tribune.

Once all 3,400 teachers are appointed, the state expects no vacancies to remain in CBSE-affiliated schools. The official statement suggests that some schools may even have more teachers than required.
