Why This India vs Pakistan Final Matters
Cricket matches between India and Pakistan are among the most fiercely contested fixtures in global sport. The two neighbours do not play bilateral series against each other anymore. Those series are suspended.
Because of this, the two teams only meet in multi-nation events. These include ICC tournaments, the Asia Cup, and the Champions Trophy. The Asian Games final now joins that list. Every such meeting carries extra weight because fans know it may not happen again soon.
Both sides have earned their place in this final by navigating the knockout rounds. Neither team got a free pass. That makes the gold medal match a true test of form under pressure.
