7.37 Crore Sanitary Pads Distributed, 13.65 Lakh Women Benefited Across the State

Monthly Free Distribution Through 27,314 Anganwadi Centres Under ‘Nawi Disha’ Scheme

Chandigarh - Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is strengthening women’s health, hygiene, and dignity.

Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur highlighted the initiative providing free sanitary pads to needy women.

  • • 7.37 crore sanitary pads distributed this year.
  • • ₹28 crore total expenditure incurred.
  • • 13.65 lakh women benefited across Punjab.
  • • 27,314 Anganwadi Centres serving as distribution points.
  • • 9 sanitary pads provided per month to each eligible woman.

The ‘Nawi Disha Scheme’ focuses on rural and underprivileged backgrounds, providing financial relief and essential hygiene access.

The initiative aims to break menstrual stigma and ensure adolescent girls face no challenges in accessing basic facilities.

Future Targets:

  • • 3.68 crore additional pads to be distributed.
  • • ₹14.60 crore estimated cost for the current financial year.
  • • Expanded coverage to reach more women statewide.

“The Mann Government is committed to ensuring every woman in Punjab has access to essential health and hygiene,” said Dr. Baljit Kaur.

The government continues to implement women-centric welfare initiatives to promote a healthier society and strengthen empowerment.
