Punjab has provided cashless treatment worth Rs 1,044 crore to around 2.91 lakh people under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana. The state's flagship healthcare scheme is now showing significant reach across districts, with Patiala leading the way.
Patiala Leads in Cashless Treatment Beneficiaries
According to official data, Patiala district has the highest number of beneficiaries at 27,892. Bathinda follows with 22,584 beneficiaries, while Ludhiana ranks third with 21,729 people receiving cashless treatment under the scheme.
The scheme, which was launched on January 8 this year, covers over 2,000 medical procedures. This includes critical care, major surgeries, diagnostic tests, and ICU services — giving families access to expensive treatments without upfront payments.
District-Wise Breakdown of Scheme Coverage
The beneficiary distribution across other districts shows wide coverage throughout the state:
- Jalandhar reported 19,312 beneficiaries
- Hoshiarpur followed with 19,075 beneficiaries
- Amritsar recorded 16,550 beneficiaries
- Sangrur saw 16,549 beneficiaries
- Sri Muktsar Sahib reported 14,800 beneficiaries
- Firozepur had 13,344 beneficiaries
- Gurdaspur recorded 12,037 beneficiaries
The numbers indicate that the scheme is not concentrated in just one region. Both larger cities and smaller districts are showing substantial participation, which suggests the program is reaching people across Punjab.
