Our Take: Hill Roads and Bus Safety Need Serious Attention
In our view, this accident is a painful reminder of how risky bus travel on hill roads can be. The Rampur region of Shimla district has narrow, winding roads, and a bus carrying around 25 people rolling down a slope could have been far worse. That one life was lost and 15 people were hurt is already a tragedy.
To put it plainly, the fact that locals had to start the rescue operation themselves shows how quickly these situations turn critical. Every minute matters when a bus goes off a mountain road. The police case will look into what went wrong, but the bigger question for readers is this — are our hill buses and roads being maintained and driven with the care they demand? That is the conversation this accident should force.
For now, our thoughts are with the families of the deceased and the injured. We hope the two passengers with head injuries recover fully.
