Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajai Rai accused the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS of siphoning off funds donated by devotees in the name of Lord Ram. According to National Herald, Rai alleged large-scale financial irregularities and said the responsibility for the alleged scam rested with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Our Take: A serious allegation that demands transparency
To put it plainly, the Congress party's allegations are serious. Over ₹1,400 crore in donations — money given by ordinary devotees in the name of faith — is a massive sum. If even a fraction of this amount has been misused, it is a betrayal of public trust. In our view, a judicial probe is the right step. It removes political bias and ensures an independent investigation. The BJP and RSS must respond clearly and allow a transparent audit. Faith should never be a shield for financial irregularities. The public deserves to know exactly where every rupee of their donation went.
