The Congress party has demanded a time-bound judicial probe by a sitting High Court judge into the alleged misappropriation of donations received by the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The party claims that an "organised loot" of more than ₹1,400 crore has taken place.
Congress alleges 'organised loot' of Ram Temple donations
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajai Rai accused the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS of siphoning off funds donated by devotees in the name of Lord Ram. According to National Herald, Rai alleged large-scale financial irregularities and said the responsibility for the alleged scam rested with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Congress demands High Court-monitored investigation
Rai stated that a time-bound investigation should be conducted by a sitting judge of the High Court and strict action must be taken against those found guilty. The Congress party's demand comes amid growing political tensions over the management of funds collected for the Ram Temple construction.
"In this case, a time-bound investigation should be conducted by a sitting judge of the High Court and strict action must be taken against those found guilty. The responsibility for the... scam rests with PM Modi." — Ajai Rai, as reported by National Herald
Our Take: A serious allegation that demands transparency
To put it plainly, the Congress party's allegations are serious. Over ₹1,400 crore in donations — money given by ordinary devotees in the name of faith — is a massive sum. If even a fraction of this amount has been misused, it is a betrayal of public trust. In our view, a judicial probe is the right step. It removes political bias and ensures an independent investigation. The BJP and RSS must respond clearly and allow a transparent audit. Faith should never be a shield for financial irregularities. The public deserves to know exactly where every rupee of their donation went.
