Apple TV owners with older hardware have a reason to pay attention. Siri AI is not limited to the newest Apple TV box — it is also coming to older models, including the second-generation Apple TV 4K from 2021.
That is the key point here: if you bought an Apple TV 4K in 2021, your device is part of the Siri AI rollout. You do not need the latest model to get the feature.
Siri AI on Apple TV: What Older Models Get
The original story makes the scope clear. Siri AI functionality goes all the way back to the second-gen Apple TV 4K box from 2021. So the feature is not reserved for brand-new hardware only.
For anyone who has been holding on to an older Apple TV, this is a straightforward piece of good news. The device you already own is covered.
Why This Matters for Apple TV 4K Owners
People often assume that new AI features require new hardware. This story shows the opposite in Apple's case. The 2021 Apple TV 4K — a box that is now several years old — is included in the Siri AI push.
- The second-generation Apple TV 4K from 2021 is confirmed as part of the Siri AI rollout.
- The feature is not exclusive to the newest Apple TV model.
- Older Apple TV owners do not need to upgrade to access Siri AI.
Our Take: A Smart Move by Apple
In our view, this is the right call. When a company pushes a new AI feature only to its latest device, it sends a clear message to loyal customers: your hardware is already obsolete. Apple is not doing that here.
To put it plainly, extending Siri AI back to the 2021 Apple TV 4K buys Apple goodwill. It also keeps older devices useful for longer, which matters to people who do not want to replace a working streaming box every couple of years.
The flip side is that older hardware may not handle every AI feature as smoothly as newer chips. But the headline fact stands: older Apple TV models are getting Siri AI, and that is a win for the people who own them.
If you have a second-gen Apple TV 4K from 2021, you are not left behind. That is the takeaway.
